Organisation Background
Communi-tea Wellness CIC was founded in March 2025 by mental health nurse and community practitioner Laura Bromley, following her work at Craftea, a community play café in Meanwood. While running Craftea, Laura saw how many parents were navigating early parenthood without a strong “village” of support. Families not from the UK, LGBTQ+ parents, and those affected by childhood trauma or family estrangement repeatedly shared the same need: connection, understanding, and a safe, welcoming community space.
Communi-tea Wellness was created in response to this need. The organisation delivers dedicated wellbeing, parenting, and peer-support projects shaped directly by the lived experiences of local families. Every programme begins with listening and grows through a bottom-up, community-led approach.
Today, the Communi-tea team brings together expertise in mental health, creative practice, early years development, and community engagement. Through inclusive, nurturing, and joy-filled activities, the CIC aims to strengthen parental wellbeing, reduce loneliness, and help families across Leeds feel seen, supported, and empowered.
Our Mission
Communi-tea Wellness CIC exists to:
Reduce parental loneliness
through accessible social activities for parents and parents-to-be, especially supporting new mums and dads navigating their first experience of parenthood.
Provide peer and one-to-one support
that connects families to mental health, health-visiting, SEND, and financial services, helping to bridge gaps in existing services.
Offer play-based, creative sessions
that develop children’s communication, language, and early numeracy skills.
Encourage parent–child connection
through reading, art, movement, creativity, and outdoor play.
Celebrate and normalise different kinds of families
fostering acceptance, open-mindedness, and understanding across communities.
Harness the power of art, play, and creativity
to promote healing, self-expression, and wellbeing for both parents and children.
Create inclusive, non-judgmental spaces
where families from all backgrounds can grow in confidence, resilience, and connection.
Our Values
At its heart, Communi-tea Wellness believes that strong families build strong communities — and that everyone deserves a place where they can belong.

Community First
We believe that the strongest solutions come from the people who use them. Every project we deliver is shaped by listening to families, valuing lived experience, and ensuring communities lead the way.

Connection & Belonging
Parenthood should never be lonely. We create warm, welcoming spaces where parents and children feel seen, supported, and part of something bigger than themselves.

Inclusivity Without Exception
We champion families of every background, identity, and story. Our work actively welcomes LGBTQ+ parents, neurodiverse families, immigrant communities, single parents, blended families, and anyone who feels they don’t have a traditional “village.”

Creativity as Healing
Play, art, and imagination are powerful tools for wellbeing. We use creative practice to build confidence, expression, communication skills, and stronger parent–child relationships.

Compassion & Dignity
We meet people where they are, without judgment. Whether offering mental health support, a cup of tea, or a listening ear, care and kindness underpin everything we do.

Early Years Matter
The early years shape futures. We focus on strengthening families during this critical period through supportive, developmentally rich, and nurturing activities for both parents and children.

Empowerment Over Intervention
We don’t “fix” families — we walk alongside them. Our goal is to build confidence, resilience, and self-advocacy so families feel empowered long after the session ends.

Joy, Play & Positivity
Wellbeing doesn’t have to be serious. We believe in laughter, messy art, silly storytelling, outdoor adventures, and finding joy in the everyday. Fun builds connection, and connection builds community.
